How to add a bot to a Telegram group

This guide shows how to add VibeGuard to your Telegram group, make the bot an admin, choose the right Telegram bot permissions, and confirm setup before turning on stronger safety or moderation actions.

Before you add VibeGuard

You need to be the group owner or an admin who can add bots and manage administrators.

VibeGuard is Telegram-first and group-scoped. Each Telegram group keeps its own settings, feature flags, moderation state, member profiles, recaps, AI usage, music settings, relationships, and Mini App context.

You do not need to enable every feature during installation. A safe first setup is simple: add the bot, promote it only with the permissions your group needs, open Security Center, and start safety rules in audit mode before enforcement.

Step 1: Open VibeGuard in Telegram

Start by opening the VibeGuard bot in Telegram.

Use the bot’s add-to-group flow and select the group you want to protect. Telegram may show you a confirmation screen before the bot joins the group. Choose the correct group carefully, especially if you manage several communities.

After VibeGuard joins, keep the bot in the group while setup completes. Depending on your Telegram client and group settings, you may see a bot message, inline buttons, or a Mini App launch button for Security Center.

Step 2: Add VibeGuard to the right group

Choose the group where you want VibeGuard to run. This matters because VibeGuard treats each Telegram chat_id as its own group workspace.

That means one group can use strict anti-spam rules, another group can use only moderation commands, and another can use AI recaps without copying the same settings everywhere.

If the wrong group was selected, remove the bot from that group and repeat the add-to-group flow for the correct Telegram group.

Step 3: Make VibeGuard an admin

To use VibeGuard for moderation and safety, promote the bot to admin inside Telegram group settings.

Open your Telegram group, go to the group info screen, open Administrators, choose Add Admin, select VibeGuard, and confirm the permissions you want to grant.

VibeGuard can join a group without every permission. But actions such as deleting spam, muting members, banning users, handling join requests, or working with invite links require the relevant Telegram admin rights.

A simple starter setup for many groups is to grant delete-message and restrict-member rights, then start safety features in audit mode before enabling stronger actions.

Step 4: Choose Telegram bot permissions

Grant only the permissions your group needs.

Deleting spam requires permission to delete messages. Muting, restricting, kicking, or banning members requires member restriction rights. Join request workflows require the ability to manage join requests. Invite-link actions require the proper invite-link permissions.

If you only want to test rules first, you can start with a lighter permission set and use audit mode. VibeGuard will show what it would catch without immediately deleting messages or punishing members.

If an action fails later, check permissions first. Many setup issues happen because the bot is missing a Telegram admin right, not because the rule is broken.

Step 5: Open Security Center and check setup

Security Center is the admin Mini App for VibeGuard setup and review.

Open it after installation to check enabled features, missing permissions, audit mode, rules, join queues, incidents, moderation cases, threat intel, command access, chat grids, diagnostics, and AI usage status.

Security Center is tied to Telegram context and membership checks, so the admin surface stays connected to the active group. If you manage several groups, make sure you are viewing the correct group before changing settings.

Step 6: Start with the first feature your group needs

After VibeGuard is added and permissions are checked, choose the first setup path.

If spam is the problem, start with anti-spam setup for links, floods, suspicious media, channel-sender abuse, edited-message tricks, and newcomer spam.

If raids are the problem, start with anti-raid setup for join bursts, bot waves, invite attacks, copied first messages, lockdown behavior, and recovery review.

If admin work is messy, start with moderation commands for warnings, mutes, bans, kicks, purges, reason templates, cases, appeals, and audit logs.

If the chat moves too fast, start with AI recaps or Group AI. Each group member can use up to 10 AI help/prompts for free, with paid expansion only when the group needs more AI attention, higher usage, advanced security, automation, or multi-group control.

Troubleshooting:

Problem: I added VibeGuard, but it cannot delete spam. Fix: Make sure the bot is an admin and has delete-message permission.

Problem: VibeGuard cannot mute or ban users. Fix: Check whether the bot has member restriction rights.

Problem: Join request features are not working. Fix: Confirm the group uses join requests and that VibeGuard has the right approval permissions.

Problem: I do not see Security Center. Fix: Confirm you are an admin, the bot is still in the group, and your Telegram client can open Mini App buttons.

Problem: I added the bot to the wrong group. Fix: Remove it from that group and repeat the add-to-group flow for the correct group.

FAQ
